About the Concert
Stephen Schwartz has been regarded as one of the greatest artists of his generation since long before his record-breaking musical Wicked. Since the 1970s, he has shaped Broadway and Hollywood with musicals such as Pippin and Godspell, as well as his work as a lyricist and songwriter on films including The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Pocahontas and The Prince of Egypt.
It is high time for a special celebration. With Anton Zetterholm, Roberta Valentini, Merlin Fargel, Milica Jovanović and Harriet Jones, the WDR Funkhausorchester has invited some of Europe’s most sought-after musical theatre stars to celebrate Stephen Schwartz’s extraordinary body of work. The programme features beloved hits, intimate ballads and the full power of the orchestra, from The Wizard and I to Magic to Do. Great melodies meet a magnificent orchestra and truly exceptional voices—a musical theatre concert in a class of its own!
